How a Game of Table Tennis Led to a Surprising Friendship

It was the first day of classes in 2024, I had just finished my first Econ 113 lecture and I was feeling bored. After looking for something to do, I decided to try table tennis. At this point it had been months since I last played so I was a little out of it and didn’t want to get embarrassed by some of the more experienced players. This was when I met William.

William is one of the best table tennis players I’ve ever seen, there was not a single soul in the room who was able to beat him. This is why I was surprised when he called me over and invited me to play against him. When we first started playing I was playing terribly, missing shots, overshooting, and being very slow overall. However, the more we played the better I got. William was surprised at my skill and even thought me how to counter some of his best moves making me an even better matchup for him.

After playing for almost 2 hours and having an amazing time I had to leave, but I made sure to grab his Instagram and he told me to let him know anytime I’m around so we can keep practicing together.

TLDR: I met an amazing table tennis player who thought me new skills and reignited my love for the sport in just 2 hours!
